Graves and cremation plots

When you buy a grave, you are buying the rights to bury a body or scatter ashes in that grave. This is called the Exclusive rights of burial, and means that you can give permission for remains or ashes to be buried there.

All rights are granted for a fixed period of time. In Leeds, this is for 50 years.

An extra charge of £114 will apply if the coffin or casket size is more than 92cm x 46cm x 208cm (including handles), or if the measurements given are incorrect.

The maximum coffin size for a baby grave is 122cm x 71cm x 41cm including handles.

Burial fees

Adult and child burial cost together at the same time is 50% of the full cost.

No exclusive right of burial has been granted

Cremation fees

A cremation without a service or attendants, including the scattering of cremated remains, can be arranged at any of our crematoria sites before 9am. This service costs £395.

Maximum coffin size 96cm x 61cm x 213cm (including handles). We will not accept coffins larger than this size. Failure to notify us of the size on prelim form will result in a charge of £111.

Containers for cremated remains

After a cremation you will need to collect the ashes from the crematorium within 14 days. To collect them you will need to have made arrangements with us. We provide a suitably sized biodegradable container.

Memorial services or interment elsewhere

Using our chapels or crematoria for a private memorial service or for interment somewhere else costs £819.

Burials

There is a £500 fee for non-attendance or an over-run of 20 minutes or more.

Music and video tributes and webcasts

We offer music and visual tributes for ceremonies taking place at our crematoria. For a child under 18 years old then the live and on demand service is free with a photo slideshow (up to 25 photos). Services can be ordered up to 4 working days before a cremation takes place.

Items should be ordered when booking the cremation or at least four full working days before the cremation takes place. There are additional charges for late bookings.

Late return of forms

If you are arranging a funeral by yourself you can get the forms and paperwork you need from Farnley Hall (Monday to Friday, 8am to 3:45pm).

You will need to hand completed paperwork back in at Farnley Hall by 10am, at least 2 working days before the funeral. If you return the forms late there is an additional fee of £63.

This fee will not apply for same day burial services.
