Report the need for an accessible kerb in your local area

Find out how to report a high kerb that is a barrier to accessing the local area, and request accessibility improvements.

Dropped kerbs enable disabled people to safely cross the roads. These are automatically provided during full street refurbishment (re-kerbing and re-surfacing) works.

If high kerbs make it hard for you to use a wheelchair or a mobility scooter to get around your local area you can report this and request that accessibility improvements are considered at locations where you experience issues.

This service cannot be used to provide a vehicle crossing to access a driveway or provide bespoke individual adaptations directly in front of private properties.

If this is not what you want to do, find out how to request:

Our improvement programme

We manage a programme of dropped kerb improvements to prioritise locations where disabled people require level access on the public highway. This helps improve accessibility and better facilitate pedestrian journeys in local areas.

This means that these improvements can be delivered well ahead of future maintenance works in locations where they are urgently required by disabled residents.

Identify a location

You can let us know where you are currently trying to cross a road (or roads) and pinpoint the locations that do not have accessible dropped kerbs.

To best utilise our limited resources, we will prioritise the provision at locations where there is no suitable alternative route.

If you wish to proceed, you can identify a location to be investigated, using our online form.

Completing the form helps us to prioritise locations where disabled people are encountering  barriers on their frequent journeys as part of our improvement plan. There is no guarantee a dropped kerb will be provided for each request.
