Parish and Town Council elections and vacancies

Notice is hereby given that due to a resignation a vacancy now exists in the office of Parish Councillor for the Parish Council of Thorp Arch.

The vacancy will be filled by election if any 10 local government electors for the said area submit a written request to that effect in the manner prescribed below and if no such request is made the vacancy will be filled by the Parish Council.

Any request for an election to be held to fill the vacancy must be in writing and must reach the Returning Officer at Leeds City Council, Electoral Services, Civic Hall, Calverley Street, Leeds, LS1 1UR by 24 October 2025.

1. An election is to be held of one Councillor for the West ward of Wetherby Town Council.

2. Nomination papers must be hand delivered to the Returning Officer at Electoral Services, 4th Floor West, Civic Hall, Leeds LS1 1UR between 10am and 4pm on any working day after the date of publication of this notice but no later than 4pm on Friday 17 October 2025.

3. Nomination papers may be obtained from the offices of the Returning Officer, Electoral Services, 4th Floor West, Civic Hall, Leeds LS1 1UR during the times stated above, or from the Electoral Commission website.

4. If the election is contested the poll will take place on Thursday 13 November 2025.

5. Applications to register to vote must reach the Electoral Registration Officer by 12 midnight on Tuesday 28 October 2025. Applications can be made online through GOV.UK.

6. Applications, amendments or cancellations of postal votes must reach the Electoral Registration Officer at Electoral Services, 4th Floor West, Civic Hall, Leeds LS1 1UR by 5pm on Wednesday 29 October 2025. Applications can be made online through GOV.UK.

7. Applications for a Voter Authority Certificate or an Anonymous Elector’s Document valid for this election must reach the Electoral Registration Officer at Electoral Services, 4th Floor West, Civic Hall, Leeds LS1 1UR by 5pm on Wednesday 5 November 2025. Applications can be made online through GOV.UK.

8. Applications to vote by proxy at this election must reach the Electoral Registration Officer at Electoral Services, 4th Floor West, Civic Hall, Leeds LS1 1UR by 5pm on Wednesday 5 November 2025. Some applications can be made online through GOV.UK.

9. Applications to vote by emergency proxy at this election must reach the Electoral Registration Officer at Electoral Services, 4th Floor West, Civic Hall, Leeds LS1 1UR by 5pm on Thursday 13 November 2025.
