Summary of admissions policy

1. Children in public care or fostered under an arrangement made by the local authority or children previously looked after by a local authority. This includes children who have been in state care outside of England and ceased to be so as a result of being adopted (evidence required).

2. Exceptional social or medical needs which can only be met at this school. Priority will be given in exceptional circumstances to a small number of children whose mental or physical impairment means they have a demonstrable and significant need to attend this school over any other. A request would not be granted where a parent wishes for their child to attend a school based on the child’s abilities, because their friends attend the school or due to childcare arrangements. Any request for this priority must outline why the child’s circumstances are exceptional, and why only our school is suitable.

3. Siblings: Children who have a brother or sister on roll at Adel St John the Baptist Church of England VA Primary School in September 2027 (Conditions apply)

4. Children of parents/carers1 who are practising, churchgoing Christians attending a Church2 within the Parish Boundary of Adel, for at least once a month, for not less than twelve months prior to the date of application. More information on the Parish Boundary Map can be found at www.achurchnearyou.com. In the event that during the period specified for attendance at worship the church has been closed for public worship and has not provided alternative premises for that worship, the requirements of these admissions arrangements in relation to attendance will only apply to the period when the church or alternative premises have been available for public worship.

5. Proximity to the school with those living closest to the school, when calculated by straight line distance, having priority. The child’s home address will be determined by: · The child's permanent address, where the child usually lives with their parent or carer. · Addresses of childminders or relatives cannot be used.

You should read the full admissions policy before applying. For some criteria, you may need to send extra information.
