Following the recent consultation on a proposal to change the age range of Rothwell Victoria Junior School, Leeds City Council is taking time to consider responses and feedback before making recommendations to Executive Board.
As no decisions have yet been taken, this means any potential changes will not be made in time for the start of the new school year in September 2025.
Leeds City Council is consulting on a proposal to change the age range of Rothwell Victoria Junior School from ages 7 to 11 to ages 4 to 11. If approved the change of age range would take affect from September 2025.
The consultation will run from 25 February 2025 until 17 March 2025. During this time there will be public consultation sessions to find out more, ask questions and share your views with the Local Authority (LA), including suggestions or alternative plans you would like the LA to consider. Your views will help us shape the next important steps and so we encourage you to talk to us during the consultation.
Why we are proposing this
The school currently provides places for pupils in Years 3, 4, 5 and 6. The council is proposing that the school provides places for pupils from Reception to Year 6 to help manage primary school places in the local area.
If the proposal were to be approved, it would lead to Rothwell Victoria accepting infant school pupils (Reception, Year 1 and Year 2) in time for the start of the next academic year in September 2025.
