Dangerous buildings and structures

The council's Building Control team are responsible for removing any danger posed by unsafe buildings in Leeds.

If you are concerned about a dangerous or unsecured building, please let us know as soon as possible.

We will notify the owner of what work they need to do to make the building safe. If the work is not completed within a specified time limit, the council may take legal action in the interests of public safety.

In extreme circumstances the council can use emergency powers to demand that the building is made safe or demolished immediately. In these cases, the council can recover any associated costs from the owner of the building.
