Trade on local markets

Trading on local markets offers a great way to become part of your local community and get to know the people and businesses that add to an area.

There are two types of traders on local markets, those who only trade occasionally (casual traders) and those with who have a licence to trade regularly (permanent). Permanent traders will normally have the same stall each time they trade.

Leeds Markets run three local markets at Otley, Pudsey and Yeadon. Prices for trading at local markets vary depending on the location, popularity of the market and trading days.

Otley Market

Otley market takes place every Tuesday, Friday and Saturday.

  • Tuesday Market: stalls are not provided and space is charged at £2.20 per linear metre
  • Friday Market: stalls provided £14.00
  • Saturday Market: stalls provided £12.00

Pudsey Market

Pudsey market takes place every Tuesday, Friday and Saturday.

  • Tuesday and Friday: stalls provided £10.00
  • Saturday: stalls provided £8.00

Pudsey market also hosts a regular Farmers and Craft Market every Thursday. 

Yeadon Market

Yeadon market takes place every Friday.

Stalls are not provided at Yeadon - traders must provide their own. As stalls are not provided, trading prices are based on space and charged at £1.50 per linear metre.

As there are no stalls provided at Yeadon market available space is managed locally.

Anything else you should know?

Before trading you will be asked to provide proof of address and UK citizenship, all traders must also have liability insurance. A list of accepted forms of identification is available in the application pack to make sure you don’t have a wasted trip.

Stall availability changes throughout the year as the markets welcome new traders so keep checking back to find latest availability updates.
