Fire safety

Find out what you need to do to make your property safe for residents.

If you rent out accommodation you should carry out a fire risk assessment, looking at:

  • the activities that take place at your property
  • the building characteristics that could increase the risk of harm
  • the probability of a fire starting at your property
  • the likelihood that a fire may cause death or injury

You should then decide:

  • how to lower the risks of fire as much as possible
  • how to make your residents as safe as possible if there is a fire at your property
