We are an alliance of staff network chairs from across business, academia and public services in Leeds. We started meeting in 2024 to share best practice and have communal impact on the work life of LGBTQ+ people in their respective industries.

Leeds LGBTQ+ Alliance - Terms of Reference
1. Background
The Leeds LGBTQ+ Alliance aims to foster collaboration, share best practices, and support the development of inclusive workplaces for LGBTQ+ employees across various organisations in Leeds.
2. Membership
Membership of the Leeds LGBTQ+ Alliance is open to all business in Leeds with an LGBTQ+ network.
3. Purpose
The purpose of this network is to:
- provide a platform for chairs of LGBTQ+ staff networks to connect, share experiences, and collaborate on initiatives
- promote best practices for LGBTQ+ inclusion in the workplace
- advocate for policies and practices that support LGBTQ+ employees
- enhance visibility and support for LGBTQ+ staff networks
4. Objectives
The network will:
- facilitate regular meetings and communication among chairs of LGBTQ+ staff networks
- share resources, tools, and strategies for effective network management
- develop joint initiatives to promote LGBTQ+ inclusion
- provide mutual support and mentorship opportunities
5. Scope
The network will focus on:
- sharing best practices and resources
- coordinating events and activities
- advocating for inclusive policies
- supporting the development and sustainability of LGBTQ+ staff networks
6. Roles and responsibilities
Chair
Lead the network, organize meetings, and ensure effective communication. This will be done on a rotating chair basis.
Members
Actively participate in meetings, share experiences, and contribute to initiatives.
Secretary
Maintain records of meetings and communications. Assist the chair to set agendas, based on the action tracker.
7. Reporting and communication
Regular meetings will be held quarterly.
Minutes of meetings will be circulated to all members.
Communication will be facilitated through email and a dedicated online platform.
8. Timelines
Quarterly meetings on the second Monday of the quarter.
9. Key Milestones
Establishment of the network: 4 February 2025.
First joint initiatives:
- ‘Pride in the Workplace’ – new date TBC
- resource repository
Joint vision statement on Trans Inclusivity.
Annual review of progress: Q1 meeting each year.
10. Budget and resources
Funding for events and initiatives will be sought from member organisations.
Resources such as meeting venues and materials will be shared among members.
11. Review and amendments
The Terms of Reference will be reviewed annually in the Q1 meeting to ensure it remains relevant and effective.
Amendments can be proposed by any member and will be discussed and agreed upon during meetings.
