At the end of this page, you can start an online form to guide you to the right place. Once there, we’ll ask for different information depending on your situation.
The options on the form are:
- "I’m moving within Leeds, from one Leeds address to another."
- "I’m moving into Leeds from another council area."
- "I’m moving out of Leeds, from a Leeds address to another council area."
What you need to tell us
If you are moving within Leeds
You need to tell us:
- your old and new Leeds addresses
- the date you moved
- the names of all adults moving with you
- tenancy dates or sale dates
- landlord or agent details if you are renting
We will:
- close your old council tax account, if we need to
- open a new account for your new address, if we need to
- transfer any credit or arrange a refund if needed
If you are moving into Leeds from another area
You need to tell us:
- your new Leeds address and moving-in date
- names of adults living with you
- tenancy start date or sale date
- landlord or agent details if renting
- bank details if you want to pay by Direct Debit
- an email address if you want to receive paperless bills
We will set up your new Leeds account and send you a bill.
If you are moving out of Leeds
You need to tell us:
- the date you moved out
- your forwarding address
- tenancy end date or sale date
- landlord or agent details if renting
We will close your Leeds council tax account and issue a final bill or refund.
