Rethink

Rethink is a restorative way of thinking about the families we work with.

It uses an evidenced based model of case formulation to help us organise information and structure our conversations to reach a shared understanding from which to base our plans.

Research has shown that many young people and their families experience repeated contact with services. ‘Rethinking’ how we work with such cases, with a shared language and deeper analysis, helps us understand why progress isn’t maintained and guides us towards more effective interventions and sustainable outcomes.

More information is available from the Rethink One Minute Guide.

Rethink Forums

Rethink forums are a chance for professionals from different agencies to come together, learn about the Rethink model and practice case formulation.

A real case, shared from within the group, is used to help participants gain a fuller understanding of how Rethink works and how it may be applied. We can only discuss one case per forum, and although the forum will discuss the chosen case in detail the aim is to raise participants’ confidence in using the Rethink model rather than creating a plan for that case.

Anyone who is involved with a family in a supportive role can attend the forums. They are held regularly in a variety of locations in Leeds and run from 9:45am to 12pm. Each forum holds 12 people and you would be expected to attend the whole session.

We would highly recommend attending several different forums to reinforce your learning and benefit from the networking opportunities. Students are welcome to attend.
