How are we doing?

We have a bold ambition in Leeds. We want to be the best city in the UK and the best city for children and young people to grow up in - a child friendly city.

Our top three priorities are known as the Leeds ‘obsessions’. They help us to measure our progress and are a focus for all services and partners that work with children and young people across the city.

Our three obsessions are:

  • safely and appropriately reduce the number of children looked after
  • young people in Leeds attend school, achieve, and attain well, and continue their route of a sustained education, apprenticeship or employment destination
  • Leeds is a healthy place for all children; and improve the timely access to healthcare when needed

CYPP: The Leeds Children and Young People’s Plan clearly sets out our priorities and the work that children’s services will undertake towards achieving our ambition.
