How are we doing?

We have a bold ambition in Leeds. We want to be the best city in the UK and the best city for children and young people to grow up in – a child friendly city.

Children’s services’ top three priorities are known as the Leeds ‘obsessions’. They help us to measure our progress and are a focus for all services and partners that work with children and young people across the city.

Our three obsessions are:

• to safely and appropriately reduce the number of children looked after;

• to reduce the number of young people not in education, employment and training (NEET), and

• to improve school attendance

We regularly monitor our progress on each of these obsessions through our ‘weekly obsessions tracker’. Produced by the Children's Performance Service, the tracker can be seen below:

CYPP: The Leeds Children and Young People’s Plan (PDF 2MB) clearly sets out our priorities and the work that children’s services will undertake towards achieving our ambition.
