Our waste transfer stations provide a convenient disposal point for general waste and recyclable materials.

What is considered business waste

Business or trade waste is classed as any waste:

  • produced by tradespeople or builders you hire to carry out improvements, repairs or alterations to your home, such as electricians, joiners, builders, glaziers, gardeners and plumbers
  • from premises which are used for business, such as homes, offices, shops, warehouses
  • that comes from commercial activity
  • from landlords. For example, waste generated from improvements, repairs or alterations, or left after a tenant leaves

Vehicles allowed on site for waste disposal

We accept vehicle types such as vans up to 3.5 tonne, caged tippers up to 3.5 tonne, or tippers up to 7.5 tonne.

We do not accept large industrial size waste containers at our facilities, such as roll-on roll-off (Roro) containers or chain lift skips.

You can dispose of up to 5 mattresses per visit (a charge of £15.50 per mattress applies). We may change our acceptance criteria at any time, without prior notice or liability for any loss relating to such action.

Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs)

The Environment Agency has set out rules for the processing and transportation of upholstered furniture items potentially containing persistent organic pollutants (POPs), such as:

  • sofas, sofa beds, and armchairs
  • upholstered kitchen and dining chairs
  • home office chairs
  • stools and footstools
  • bean bags, floor or sofa cushions
  • futons

Hazardous business waste

There is a charge of £20.66 per load or visit for hazardous business waste, as well as additional charges for different waste types.

A completed hazardous waste consignment note must accompany your hazardous waste; you will not be allowed to use our waste transfer stations without one.

Weighbridge weight certificate

There is a charge of £13 for the use of the weighbridge to check that your vehicle isn't overweight when loaded.

We do not accept large goods vehicles (LGV) or heavy goods vehicles (HGV) for weighbridge weight checks.

Dynamic Axle Weighbridges: Our weighbridge is unable to measure the weight of a vehicle's individual axles.

Payment information

We accept all major credit and debit cards, as well as Apple Pay, Google Pay and Samsung Pay. No cash or cheques are accepted.

We are unable to offer a credit account. All services must be paid for at the point of sale.

Waste carrier licence

People or businesses who transport waste (a carrier) must be registered for a waste carrier licence.

Leeds Accredited Waste Carrier Scheme

LAWCS helps residents find someone local, legal and responsible to take away their waste.

Waste transfer note (invoice)

We will provide you with a waste transfer note (invoice) for any waste you bring. You’re required to keep a copy of the note for 2 years. You must show it to an enforcement officer from the council or Environment Agency if asked.

Health and safety on site

The following rules apply to all visitors at our facilities:

  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) must be worn, including a high visibility jacket and protective footwear
  • no children or pets
  • no smoking or e-cigarettes

If you do not have the appropriate PPE, you will not be allowed to use our waste transfer facilities.

Terms and conditions
  1. We only accept waste from properties in the Leeds City Council area.
  2. We provide a pay per use service and are unable to offer a credit account. All waste must be paid for at the time of disposal.
  3. For health and safety reasons, all visitors must wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Minimum PPE requirements include a hi vis vest or coat and safety footwear with a protective toe cap and protective midsole. This includes the driver and all passengers, whether or not they are exiting the vehicle. Any passengers without the necessary PPE must wait outside the facility.
  4. Smoking or vaping is not permitted on site.
  5. No children or pets are allowed on site as passengers in any vehicle entering the operational area of our waste transfer station. Any children or pets must wait outside the facility.
  6. Visitors must comply with fair and reasonable instructions from our employees relating to our rules for visitors, including all health and safety site signage.
  7. Visitors must correctly declare all waste to the weighbridge clerk on entry. Falsely declaring or concealing waste (including disposal of waste in the wrong bunker) may result in a £1,000 fine and subsequent account closure.
  8. Last entry is 15 minutes before closing. Occasionally we may need to close early or for short periods throughout the day for container exchanges, loading of artic vehicles, or to push up waste in bunkers. These closures may happen at any time without prior notice or liability for any loss relating to such action.
  9. The welfare of our staff and residents is of paramount importance and they are entitled to a safe working environment, free from abusive or aggressive behaviour. Any incident of this nature may result in your account being closed and could be reported to the police.
  10. Visitors are not allowed to sort and separate their waste whilst on site and are expected to pre-sort their waste and recycling before visiting or pay general waste disposal for mixed materials.
  11. All customers will receive a waste transfer note (invoice) after each tip. If you are a tradesperson or business, you must keep a copy of the note for 2 years should an enforcement officer from the council or the environment agency ask for them. Customers should maintain their own records as we are unable to provide duplicate sales receipts.
  12. Customers must not unhitch their trailers at any time while on site.
  13. We do not accept asbestos, chemicals, gas cylinders, paint, tyres, tarmac and asphalt at any of our waste transfer stations.
  14. Customers who are transporting hazardous waste must bring a completed hazardous consignment note with them to site. You will not be allowed to dispose of your hazardous waste without one.
  15. We may change our waste acceptance criteria at any time, without prior notice or liability for any loss relating to such action.
  16. The site speed limit of 5mph and our one-way system must be observed at all times.
  17. We accept vehicle types such as vans up to 3.5 tonne, caged tippers up to 3.5 tonne or tippers up to 7.5 tonne. We do not accept large industrial size waste containers such as roll-on roll-off (Roro) containers or chain lift skips.
  18. We do not accept large goods vehicles (LGV) or heavy goods vehicles (HGV) for weighbridge weight checks. Our weighbridge is unable to measure the weight of the vehicle’s individual axles, and we only provide a weigh-only comprised of one weight.
  19. Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs) must be declared at the weighbridge and disposed of in the correct bunkers. Failure to do so may incur a £1,000 surcharge to cover council liabilities for processing contaminated waste.

Disposal of waste in the wrong bunker or container may result in a £1,000 fine.

Register and create an account

New customers must register with us and create an account to dispose of business waste.

You must register with us first, or you will not be allowed entry to the waste transfer station.

To register, contact us with the following information:

  • name (title, forename, surname)
  • business name if applicable
  • full correspondence address including postcode
  • vehicle details (registration, make, model, colour)
  • contact number (landline or mobile)
  • waste carrier licence number and expiry date if applicable
  • full site address of where the waste has been removed from (we only accept waste from properties in the Leeds City Council area)
  • proof of vehicle ownership such as your vehicle V5 certificate, lease agreement or hire agreement

Once we receive your request we will create an account for you. You will receive details of this and your account number in a confirmation email.

Provide your account number to the weighbridge clerk on arrival.

Update an account

Existing customers must contact us before visiting a weighbridge if they want to update their account information such as:

  • business name
  • address
  • contact information
  • vehicle information
  • waste carriers licence
  • LRS scheme (landlords)

You cannot update your account at the weighbridge. If your account information is not up to date you will not be allowed entry to the waste transfer station.
