Public services, charities and businesses can book interpreters and order document translations online.

Our interpreting and translation service provides organisations with qualified linguists across 120+ languages and British Sign Language (BSL) for face‑to‑face, phone and video appointments. We also produce written translations, braille, audio formats, BSL videos and Easy Read materials.

Fees apply to all interpreting and translation services.

You can use our service to:

Online ordering (Panacea)

Panacea lets Leeds City Council and external organisations:

  • book foreign language interpreters for meetings and appointments
  • book British Sign Language (BSL) interpreters
  • order a translation of any document
  • order braille, audio CD, large print, BSL video or Easy Read versions of any document

Create a Panacea account

Request a Panacea account and select 'client' when you give your organisation's details.

This applies only to clients wishing to book an interpreter or translator. If you are a linguist wishing to join our register, visit our 'be an interpreter or translator for the council' page.

When we approve your request, you will get an email with instructions on how to complete your registration.

Book an interpreter

Log in to Panacea and select the service you need. Fill in the details, including date and time, to get a cost estimate. Submit the order and receive a confirmation email. You’ll receive an invoice after the appointment.

Translate a document

Log in to Panacea and upload your document. Enter the word count for a cost estimate, then submit your order. You’ll receive an email notification and an invoice when the work is complete.

Quality and assurance

We recruit qualified linguists and provide additional monitoring for rare languages. We ensure a professional, secure service as part of Leeds City Council.

Regular bookings and contract arrangements

If your organisation requires regular support, we can discuss ongoing booking arrangements.
