Support for people at risk of radicalisation (Leeds Prevent)

If you’re worried that you or someone you know is being radicalised, our Prevent team can help.

We support susceptible people from being drawn into extremist or terrorist behaviour.

If you're worried about someone

Call or email us and we'll discuss your concerns with you. We will ask you why you think someone is at risk and decide how we can help. 

We may ask you to complete a referral form so that we can support the person you're worried about.

You can call the police at any time on 101, or 999 if it's an emergency.

Support we offer

If we think someone needs help, we will work with other organisations to offer them practical support to move away from extremism. They may receive support from our Channel programme External link.

It's up each individual whether they access the support we offer. Our support might include:

  • support from a specialist mentor
  • employment support
  • mental health support
  • help with their education
  • housing support

Causes and signs of radicalisation

Radicalisation is the process which leads to a person supporting terrorism and other forms of extremism. 

There are many reasons why someone might be susceptible to radicalisation. Many of the factors are the same as for people becoming involved in drug and alcohol misuse, child sexual exploitation and gangs.

Make a complaint about Prevent

The Standards and Compliance Unit (StaCU) has been set up to make sure anyone applying the Prevent duty, or providing training on Prevent, follows the right process and standards.
