Heritage assets at risk

​The Council maintains a list of Heritage Assets at Risk. This includes designated heritage assets known to be at risk from neglect, decay or inappropriate change.

At the latest survey the list included:

Listed buildings – 92 listed buildings are at risk - 3.8% of the total number of listed buildings in the metropolitan area.

Conservation areas – 4 conservation areas are at risk -

  • Buslingthorpe Conservation Area
  • Chapeltown Conservation Area
  • Holkbeck Conservation Area
  • Stank Hall Conservation Area

Historic parks and gardens – 2 Registered Parks and Gardens are at risk

  • High Royds Hospital, Aireborough
  • Outlon Hall, Oulton

Registered battlefields – 1 registered battlefield is at risk

  • Battle of Adwalton Moor, Drighlinton

Scheduled monuments – 12 scheduled monuments are at risk

  • Aberford Dyke System – length of linear earthworks known as Becca Banks and The Ridge, part of the Aberford Dyke system, between Aberford and a quarry 590m north of Ass Bridge, Aberford (SM 1016951)
  • Aberford Dyke System – linear earthwork, part of the Aberford Dyke system, 770m east from Humphrey Dale Cottage, Aberford (SM 1016953)
  • Aberford Dyke System – linear earthworks, known as Woodhouse Moor Rein and South Dyke, part of the Aberford Dyke system, Lotherton cum Aberford (SM 1016954)
  • Cairn west of Craven Hall Hill (SM 1010355)
  • Clayton Wood – stone hut circle settlement in Clayton Wood on the south west side of Iveson Drive (SM 1018814)
  • Cookridge – Medeival farmstead in Ireland Wood, 150m north east of Cookridge Hospital (SM 1018553)
  • Dalton Parlours Roman villa and Iron Age settlement, Bramham cum Oglethorpe (SM 1017560)
  • Howley Hall: a 16th century country house and garden, Morley (SM 1016323)
  • Iveson Wood – stone hut circle settlement in Iveson Wood, Leeds (SM 1018815)
  • Stank Hall quasi-manorial site (AM 1256)
  • Rothwell Castle (AM 1172)
  • Walton – Settlement site revealed by aerial photography near Moat House, Walton (SM 1003801)
