Area action plans

Area Action Plans (AAPs) form part of the Local Development Framework.  An AAP contains detailed plans for how an area will change in the next 15-20 years.  They are focused on regeneration areas and areas where major change is expected.

The plans set out:
• the type and scale of new development, such as new housing, offices, industry, shops and leisure facilities;
• areas to be protected from development, such as green spaces; and
• the requirements for new and improved infrastructure to support development, such as roads, public transport, schools and health facilities and how this will be delivered.

Leeds City Council is currently preparing an AAP for the Aire Valley Leeds regeneration area to the south east of the city centre. Other AAPs were earlier proposed for the city centre and the EASEL area of east Leeds but have since been formally withdrawn.
