Contact your energy supplier
If you are in arrears with your gas or electricity bill, contact your supplier to arrange to pay them back at an affordable rate.
Switch suppliers to save
You could save money by changing to a gas or electric supplier offering a better deal. TheGo Energy Shopping website is run by the energy regulator, OFGEM to provide information and advice to households on switching to the best energy tariff. The site includes a list of OFGEM accredited switching websites.
White Rose Energy
White Rose Energy is a new energy supplier that has been set up by Leeds City Council in partnership with Robin Hood Energy, to provide residents from across the region with a fairer alternative for their gas and electricity. For more information visit the White Rose Energy webpage.
Better Homes Leeds
Is a programme offered in partnership with Willmott Dixon and Keepmoat, to deliver to deliver 4230 subsidised energy efficiency improvements to homes in Leeds during 2015 to 2018. These home improvements could include:
- Cavity wall insulation,
- External & internal wall insulation
- Hard to treat wall cavities,
- Loft insulation
- Room in roof insulation
- Windows & door replacement
- Renewables e.g. solar PV panels.
Better Homes Leeds is for private home owners, tenants who privately rent and private landlords only. Social Housing Tenants must speak to their Registered Provider to find out about energy efficiency schemes for social housing.
We have an ongoing refurbishment programme for its council houses, including energy efficiency measures. This programme is primarily area based: areas are selected on the basis of need and all homes are improved in that area. We are also running a citywide programme to complete any outstanding cavity wall and loft insulation. If you are a council tenant who needs cavity wall or loft insulation please email firstname.lastname@example.org. Other enquiries will be noted and depending on what is requested, improvements may or may not be made.

Warm Home Discount
The Warm Home Discount (WHD) is funded by energy suppliers and provides a rebate to vulnerable energy consumers on their electricity bill. Householders in receipt of the guarantee credit element of pension credit should receive the discount automatically. Details of the discount are provided by the energy companies themselves.
