Business continuity management (BCM) is a process that helps manage risks to the smooth running of an organisation or delivery of a service, ensuring continuity of critical functions in the event of a disruption, and effective recovery afterwards.

Business continuity at Leeds City Council
Leeds City Council has assessed all of its services to determine what level of BCM they require, in line with the requirements of the Civil Contingencies Act 2004.
The Council also promotes business continuity to local organisations via the Leeds business continuity network meetings which are held every four months at Leeds Civic Hall. The meetings are free and promote best practice in business continuity via presentations from industry experts and public sector agencies, along with looking ahead at events in the city which may cause business continuity issues.
