Being pregnant and preparing to welcome your new baby into the world can be an exciting time, but often, new parents can have questions about what it’s going to be like and how best to care for their baby.

Breastfeeding groups and support in LeedsBreastfeeding groups and support in Leeds<div class="ExternalClass5B5B9DD0BD41452CA567B763243A2DC8">There are lots of breastfeeding support groups available in Leeds these are called Baby Cafés, Peer Support Groups and Breastfeeding Support Groups. Support groups are a good way to talk to trained professionals about breastfeeding and to meet other breastfeeding mums.<br><br> <b>What is a Baby café?</b> <br>These groups always have a trained Health Professional present to offer support and suggestions. Feel free to come for a drink and to meet other breastfeeding mums.<br><br> <strong>What is a Peer Support Group?</strong> <br>These groups are run by trained breastfeeding peer supporters. Peer supporters are mothers who have themselves breastfed and have undertaken a training course. They are not able to give specific advice but can offer suggestions and sign-post to the most appropriate and timely help. Any breastfeeding mum is welcome! <br><br> <strong>What is a Breastfeeding Support Group?</strong> <br>These groups are all run slightly differently, although all group leaders undertake breastfeeding training so that they can offer specific support. Don’t forget, your midwife or health visitor are available to support you with breastfeeding and there are many groups and clinics in Leeds where you can get support too​​.<br><br>You can contact the national breastfeeding helpline on <strong>0300 1000212.</strong><br><br> Leeds City Council has an infant feeding policy to ensure any mother who chooses to breastfeed feels confident, comfortable and supported to do so – whether living, working or visiting in Leeds. Preparation for Birth and BeyondPreparation for Birth and Beyond<div class="ExternalClassB990D4DA78664B27B206B3B96A963E49">Preparation for Birth and Beyond (PBB) is Leeds’ antenatal education course. It has been designed to support parents-to-be during pregnancy and the early days of their baby’s lives.<br><br>The programme involves six sessions before the birth and one after the baby is born.
