Support for adults with learning disabilities

In Leeds, there is a wide range of support available to people with learning disabilities and their families and carers.

We assess people's needs and develop individual support plans. We support everyone to be as independent as possible whilst making sure they are safeguarded from harm.

Changing Places toilets, Changing Places toiletsChanging Places toilets<div class="ExternalClassFD30284C774B4461B37CC40C220FB2B9"><p>​Changing Places are toilet facilities for people with profound or multiple disabilities and are fitted with specialist equipment including a hoist and changing bench. Respite and emergencyRespite and emergency<div class="ExternalClass7B1CF143C1CF43E1927E1CE537A1B9EC">​The Respite Care Service offers an opportunity for people with a learning disability to have short stays away from their family and gives family carers a break from their caring responsibilities.<br><br>The Crisis Service provides 5 places for people to stay and be supported by staff when their needs change or an emergency happens. Customers can stay for up to three months whilst they are supported to move on to a more permanent setting.</div>
Safe Places scheme, Safe Places schemeSafe Places scheme<div class="ExternalClassF90A71B93B734821ACAED7FBB039E64E">The Safe Places scheme helps adults with learning disabilities to cope with any incident that takes place while they are out and about, for example being harassed, getting lost or the person they are meeting fails to turn up which causes them to need assistance. When they join the scheme they receive a card name together with the telephone numbers of up to three people who can be contacted in an emergency.<br><br>Further information can be found by clicking on the link below.​</div>
