Lawnswood Crematorium break-in

There was a break-in at the Book of Remembrance Room at Lawnswood Crematorium over the 2018 Easter break.

The Books of Remembrance were severely damaged during the break-in meaning that the entries for the months of May, June & July were unavailable to view. Restoration work is now underway and it seems that all the entries will be able to be restored in time for May 2019.

For further information please view this recent update on the Leeds City Council Facebook page.

If you have been affected by this vandalism and are unsure if an entry for these months will still be available following the restoration, please email the name and date of your entry to: parks@leeds.gov.uk and mark the email “For the attention of the Chief Superintendent / Book of Remembrance check”. Your email will be responded to with 15 working days.

If you would like to donate to support Leeds City Council in the restoration, The Friends of Lawnswood Cemetery have set up a fundraising campaign and a JustGiving page to contribute towards the costs.
