Do you want to go on a bear hunt, get really close to a tiger or be a queen or king for a day with your little ones?
All these things and more are possible at Leeds Museums and Galleries. We’re here to help the children in your care develop a sense of place and identity (and hopefully, make your life easier in the process!). Evidence strongly suggests that play in a cultural setting can help with the development of emotional intelligence, language, motor skills and creative thinking.
Based on what you have told us over the last couple of years, we have developed a number of early years foundation stage specific workshops at:
- Thwaite Mills Watermill
- Leeds City Museum
- Abbey House
- Temple Newsam
- Leeds Art Gallery
- Lotherton Hall
What other early years professionals say
“I am surprised by just how much the children and parents got out of the day…..so many questions and everyone has had a really good time we would love to do this again”, staff from an early years centre after a session at Leeds Art Gallery
Got an interesting topic idea? Do you want to look at parrots? Or crocodiles? Or houses? Or old toys? Let us know and we’ll see what we can do.
What to know what else is possible? Or inject object-based learning, artist-led creativity or extra imaginative play into your setting? We can run daytime or twilight staff training sessions either in your setting or in ours. Please contact us on to discuss the possibilities.
