The Safety Advisory Group (SAG) work in partnership with emergency services and professional bodies to discuss the Health and Safety issues relating to an event and offer professional guidance.
SAG's main objectives are:
- To promote high levels of safety and welfare at events by giving advice and guidance
- To promote good practice in safety and welfare planning for events
- To ensure events cause minimal adverse impact to the community
- Encourage cooperation and coordination between all relevant agencies so that events are safe and successful
How it works
If your event is on council land the event officers assisting with your booking will inform SAG on your behalf. If your event is not on council land you will need to inform SAG of your intended activity using the SAG event notification form (Word 57KB).
The SAG will then review the event and inform you of your required next steps.
Event organisers, the land owner and others involved in the running of an event retain the principal legal duties for ensuring public safety.
