Coronavirus – grants for businesses

We have support grants available to help businesses and charities in Leeds.

Relief from business rates payments

Apply for rates relief if your business or charity has been affected by the pandemic and you are not eligible for existing support linked to business rates.

You may be able to receive 75% relief on your business rates if you can show a 25% loss of income, or £100,000 loss of income for the year 2021 to 2022.

Who can apply

Your business or charity must pay business rates and be registered for business rates with Leeds City Council.

Any business suffering a significant loss of revenue will be considered. Sectors will also include manufacturing, logistics and warehousing, legal, accounting and other professional services, marketing, IT and recruitment consultants.

Priority will be given to businesses or charities that demonstrate a loss of at least 25% or £100,000, in 2021/22 when compared to 2019/20. Any relief awarded will be proportionate to the income loss suffered by the business or charity.

You can only apply for this support if you have not already received financial help with:

  • Extended Retail Discount
  • Nurseries Discount
  • Airport Ground Operations Support Scheme
If you have multiple premises for your business

If your business or charity usually trades from multiple premises, you can apply for the fund for each one. You need to apply separately for each of your premises, but we will review your applications together and may pay them in one single payment.
