Current and upcoming improvement schemes

Some major schemes currently underway or moving into delivery:

  • Leeds City Rail Station - work to create a world-class gateway to the city and significantly improve one of the busiest stations in the north of England is underway, due to complete in 2025
  • Leeds City Square - it has been a long-held ambition to remove through-traffic from City Square and make it a people first environment. We’re making this a reality with construction already underway

Plan your journey

Planning your journey in advance could help to reduce your time spent in traffic. You should:

  • plan your route and allow extra time when travelling
  • avoid making unnecessary short car journeys
  • avoid the busiest routes and times of day, such as the school run
  • walk or cycle to your destination
  • use public transport instead
  • make use of park and ride schemes, such as Elland Road, Temple Green or Stourton
