Clean Air Charging Zone

3. Emissions standards

From 6 January 2020 heavy goods vehicles (HGVs), buses, coaches, taxis and private hire vehicles that are not compliant with emissions standards will be charged daily for driving in the boundary of the clean air zone.

Light goods vehicles, private cars and motorcycles will not be charged for driving in the zone regardless of their emissions standard.

The government are developing an online registration checker to make it easy to find out whether a vehicle complies with the Leeds CAZ and similar zones in other UK cities. We will link to this tool as soon as it is available.

Please do not rely on vehicle checkers developed by other authorities (such as Transport for London) because emissions standards differ between schemes. The best way to determine your vehicle’s emissions standard is to ask your vehicle’s manufacturer.
