Thorpe Park

To the south of the East Leeds Extension, adjoining Junction 46 of the M1, is Thorpe Park Leeds.  With an already established 900,000 sq ft business park and a working population of around 5,000, incorporating The Springs shopping and leisure destination, the further development of Thorpe Park Leeds is building a thriving new community.  The new phase by developer Scarborough Group International comprises 1.43 million sq ft of mixed-use accommodation, alongside 300 new homes by Redrow and 140 acres of parkland and public realm including sports facilities.

The 'William Parkin Way Link Road' opened in 2019 as part of the opening of The Springs retail park and provides a new bridge over the Leeds-York rail line and connection the M1.  This will join to the main part of the East Leeds Orbital Route (ELOR) delivered by Leeds City Council when it opens in May 2022.

Thorpe Park Leeds has also been selected by the Department of Transport to benefit from major investment for a new train station with associated park and ride facilities. The Government's New Stations Fund approved the scheme in May 2021, and the new station on the Trans-Pennine route will provide access to Leeds City Centre in less than 10 minutes and York in less than 30 minutes.  The plans are part of our Connecting Leeds programme, with the ambition to improve travel in Leeds for people who live, work in and visit the city.  The Thorpe Park Leeds new train station, anticipated to open in 2024, will provide sustainable access to key towns and cities supporting economic development, job creation and new housing.
