Parks and Countryside consultations

This page provides details of proposals for new developments in the Parks and Countryside Service and a chance for the public to comment on them.

Current consultations

Community Parks

There are 65 community parks in Leeds which are managed by Leeds City Council.  Over the next few years we are working to develop a plan for each of these parks based on the thoughts and opinions of local people to ensure they are the best they can be. The plan will then be the vision for if and when funding becomes available.

You can complete the online consultation for Woodhouse Ridge until 20 February 2024.

If you need a paper copy of the survey or for more information, email parks@leeds.gov.uk or call  0113 378 6002.

In 2024, we will be consulting on vision plans for the following community parks: Whinmoor Park, Banstead Park, Cross Flatts Park, Seacroft Gardens, Rein Park, Nowell Mount, Grove Hill Park, Wortley Recreation Ground, Gotts Park, Hartley Avenue Park, Tennant Hall POS (aka Blackman Lane Park) and Hainsworth Park.

There will also be the opportunity to come to talk to us in person at and near the parks. More information will be available nearer the time.

We are currently compiling the data from the recently completed consultations on East End, Harehills and Burley Parks.

Closed consultations

Play areas

Cranmer Recreation Ground, Alwoodley

We consulted on these proposals because we want to improve the playground and facilities, but we need to know what local people think of the existing play area and what improvements they would like to see. This will help the council apply for grants to help pay for any works.

Car parking charges

We consulted on these proposals because we are keen to understand the views of Leeds residents and users of the car parks.

Middleton, Roundhay and Temple Newsam

We consulted on proposals to introduce modest car parking charges to meet the cost of maintaining car parking services at Middleton Park, Roundhay Park and Temple Newsam Estate and to deliver a programme of improvements to the car parks at this site.

We are currently facing a budget shortfall of over £35 million this financial year alone due to factors beyond our control, including inflation and the price of energy. The proposed charges would help support the costs incurred from maintaining and improving the car parks.

Golden Acre

We consulted on the proposal to introduce modest car parking charges to meet the cost of maintaining car parking services at Golden Acre Park and to deliver a programme of improvements to the car parks at this site.

Without further action, we are facing a budget shortfall of nearly £35 million this financial year alone due to factors beyond our control including inflation and the price of energy. The proposed charges would help reduce the costs incurred from maintaining and improving the car park.

Otley Chevin

We consulted on the proposal to introduce modest car parking charges to meet the cost of maintaining car parking services at Otley Chevin Forest Park and to deliver a programme of improvements to the car parks at this site.

Without further action, we are facing a budget shortfall of nearly £35 million this financial year alone due to factors beyond our control including inflation and the price of energy. The proposed charges would help reduce the costs incurred from maintaining and improving the car park.
