Joining is completely free. Anyone can join and you do not need to live in Leeds to join a Leeds library.
How to join
Online
Join online by completing the form. You’ll then receive an email with your temporary card number and you can set your own pin.
Join the library
Use your card number to access our online services. Please note, you will need to put LDP00 in front of the temporary number for all services except
eBooks.
In person
You can go to any library or community hub to get a library card.

Change or update your details
If your information changes you can update your records by contacting us at any of our libraries or by e-mailing
leeds.libraries@leeds.gov.uk.
Membership benefits
Our free benefits include:
- a loan of 20 books for an initial period of three weeks
- bookable computers with internet access
- online resources from home
- downloadable e-books and e-audio
You can
reserve or renew a library book online.
You can use your library card in any of our branches right across Leeds including the large central library in the city centre. You can also register your card at any leisure centre to enable online bookings.
If you have given us an email address, we can send you reminders when your books are due for return.
We do not charge fines for the late return of books, however we would encourage you to return books on time so that others can enjoy them. Items not returned will be treated as lost and charges may apply to replace these.
Lost or stolen cards
If your library card is lost or stolen please contact your local library as soon as possible. Replacement cards are issued free of charge.
