Governance

The Governance Team consists of Beth Hargreaves, Governance Manager and Amanda Rudd, Governance Support Officer.

We are responsible for the overseeing of the policies and processes the Company must adhere to.  We service and administer Board and Committee meetings and work with the Chair arranging annual appraisals and identifying any training needs required by the board.

Governance
Governance is the way an organisation is set up and run.  It is partly about procedures, policies, documents and management arrangements that are in place to administer and control the organisation, including its finances and delivery of services.  It is also about organisation relationships with its stakeholders and the aims and objectives of an organisation.

West North West homes Leeds is a registered company therefore, governance arrangements need to comply with the Companies Act.

We are audited on an annual basis by Leeds City Council's Internal Audit Department on the Corporate Governance arrangements in place.

An Annual General Meeting is held in October of each year.  At the meeting the company Accounts are signed off in the presence of the Company Accountants.  Also, the results of the Chair and Vice Chair of the Board and Sub-Committee elections are announced.

The Board at West North West homes Leeds comprises of the following:

  • four Councillor Directors
  • four Independent Directors
  • four Tenant Directors

Each of the Directors also sit on a sub-committee:

  • Service Performance Committee (which oversee the services we provide to customers, i.e. ensuring West North West homes Leeds meets Decent Homes Standard.
  • Finance & Resources Committee(this Committee oversees in-house decisions such as Human Resources and Finance).
  • Governance Risk & Audit
  • Remuneration Committee
  • Standards Panel

The Directors agree to abide by a Code of Conduct, which is reviewed annually along with the Terms of Reference and Board Director Roles and Responsibilities.
