Leeds cycling map 

A 2012 edition of the Leeds Cycling Map has been produced by us, specialist cycle map makers and local cyclists. The map covers an area that includes central Leeds, Horsforth, Morley, Pudsey, Rothwell, Shadwell and Yeadon. Using the map cycle, journeys can be planned to use the most appropriate routes for cycling. These are not always obvious. Using the map makes cycling easier and more pleasant. It is free and available from cycle shops, Leeds Gateway Tourist Information Centre, by sending an A5 stamped addressed envelope (SAE) to the contact address or by opening the link.

The Aire Valley Towpath route 

Following the 22km route from Leeds to Saltaire, you will discover a variety of attractions and places of interest. Starting from Granary Wharf on the edge of the city centre, the towpath takes you on a peaceful route through the bustling city of Leeds. You will pass a number of attractions including Leeds Industrial Museum at Armley Mills, the medieval Kirkstall Abbey, Bramley Falls and Apperley Bridge before reaching your destination at the World Heritage Site village of Saltaire. You can see the Aire Valley towpath information or you can download a map here or send an SAE to the contact address.  

West Yorkshire Cycle route 

This is a signed, 150 mile circular route, mainly on quiet roads, which roughly follows the West Yorkshire County Boundary. Terrain varies from the flat rolling farmlands in the northeast section within the Leeds Metropolitan Area, to the strenuous rises of the Pennine hills to the west. The whole route can be rode by the fittest cyclist or alternatively use the guide to plan shorter rides between points of interest, which include the tourist centres of Ilkley, Wetherby, Hebden Bridge and Haworth, picturesque villages, and a whole range of landscapes. The map can be received by sending an A5 SAE to the contact address.  Sorry currently out of stock

Transpennine Trail – Leeds section 

This mostly off road route follows the Aire and Calder Navigation to the south, past the Royal Armouries and Thwaite Mills Industrial Museum, to the nature reserve at Fleet Bridge and on to Wakefield. Information can be viewed online at www.transpenninetrail.org.uk or you can download a map here or send an SAE to the contact address.

Wetherby railway path 

This route follows the disused railway track between Thorpe Arch Trading Estate and Retail Park and Spofforth, passing through farmland and woods, and the market town of Wetherby. Other attractions include Wetherby racecourse and Spofforth castle. A map can be downloaded here or you can send an SAE to the contact address.

The Aireborough Greenway 

This route follows a disused railway track between Yeadon and Guiseley. It provides links to local schools and areas of housing and passes the Engine Fields urban nature reserve. You can download a map here or send an SAE to the contact address.  

Wyke Beck Way 

This route runs between Roundhay Park, Temple Newsam and the Aire Valley Employment Area. It is mainly off-road and provides great access to schools, employment and high quality greenspace. A map is available by clicking the link opposite or by sending an SAE to the contact address.

Alwoodley to City Centre Cycle Route 

The Alwoodley Cycle Route uses cycle tracks and quiet roads to provide a safe and  direct  way to cycle to the city centre, taking around 35 minutes inbound.  It passes through Alwoodley, Meanwood, Stainbeck and Little London and provides easy access to Meanwood Urban Farm.  The route is also handy for getting to several schools including Cardinal Heenan Catholic High  School , Allerton High School and the Carr Manor Schools.   A map is available by clicking the link opposite or by sending an SAE to the contact address. 

 West Park to City Centre Route 

The West Park cycle route has been designed to  encourage more cycling amongst students and residents living in the  West Park, Burley Park, Hyde Park and Headingley areas.  The route will improve access to the city centre , University of Leeds’ campus & Weetwood Playing Fields, Leeds Met University City & Headingley campuses, and will also provide a  link to Lawnswood High School.A map is available by clicking the link opposite or by sending an SAE to the contact address.

Middleton to City Centre Cycle Route 

The Middleton Route passes schools and parkland on its way to the city centre, and provides easy cycling to a number of other destinations including Beeston, Cross Green and the Trans Pennine Trail and Aire Valley Towpath National Cycle Network Routes.  A map is available by clicking the link opposite or by sending an SAE to the contact address.

Kirkstall Brewery to City Campuses and Headingley Campus 

These routes use quiet roads, bus and cycle lanes, canal towpath and improved junctions to provide convenient routes from Kirkstall Brewery Halls of Residence to the main city centre campuses and Leeds Met Headingley Campus passing by Opal 1 and 2 student accommodation.  A map is available by clicking the link opposite or by sending an SAE to the contact address.
