History

The wood provides a shield between the new M1 Motorway and the more tranquil golf course and House area. Trees at the southern end are over 100 years old with oak, lime and sweet chestnut. Recent additions include a mixture of beech and oak over ground covering of bramble, elder, rhododendron and colourful bluebells.


Access

Bridlepath from Pontefract Lane or head south via formal gardens at the southern end of the House following the line of the Jacob's Well stream.
