Canopy consists of oak, beech, sycamore and birch with a real variety of species including bluebells
and snowdrops at ground level. Very popular with walkers as evidenced by the many pathways created in
the wood.
The northern part is bordered by Templegate housing estate, incorporating some of the best preserved
sections of the boundary wall. The central section has a tree that was struck by lightning and badly
damaged in 2000. Many fungi species can be found at lower levels.
