History

Canopy consists of oak, beech, sycamore and birch with a real variety of species including bluebells and snowdrops at ground level. Very popular with walkers as evidenced by the many pathways created in the wood.

The northern part is bordered by Templegate housing estate, incorporating some of the best preserved sections of the boundary wall. The central section has a tree that was struck by lightning and badly damaged in 2000. Many fungi species can be found at lower levels.

Via the small car park adjacent to Lodge Gates from Whitkirk or overspill car park from Temple Newsam Road
