House Volunteers

There are several opportunities for volunteers at Temple Newsam House. If you are interested in becoming a House volunteer, please ring 0113 264 7321.

Tour Guides. There is an active group of volunteers leading special interest tours of the house and collections. Tours take place on a weekly basis and feature topics such as family portraiture, Chippendale furniture and Temple Newsam behind the scenes. Training is provided by the Temple Newsam curatorial staff.

Collections volunteers. A small group of volunteers work alongside curatorial staff, assisting with collections management work in the areas of interpretation, ceramics and textiles. Numbers are limited.

Student work placements. A number of work placements are available each year with the curatorial, conservation and education staff for students studying a relevant discipline.
