Textiles at Temple Newsam : The Roger Warner Collection

A full colour catalogue of the collection of historic textiles accumulated by Roger Warner and given by him to Temple Newsam over a period of years from 1995 onwards. The majority of Roger Warner's textiles were once dress fabrics or furnishings belonging to other great country houses and were acquired by him at auctions during his fifty-year career as an antique dealer. The rest he inherited from his grandfather, Metford Warner, who was the owner of the leading Victorian wallpaper printing firm, Jeffrey & Co. of London. The textiles range from the 17th to the early 20th centuries and include silks, linens and embroidered pieces, all of which together provide an insight into developments in pattern design and manufacture.
