The Bullion Rooms
These rooms are now converted for displays of silver and other decorative arts. The rich collection of silver at
Temple Newsam contains only a very few pieces made for the family but contains extremely fine objects that
represent evolving styles of decoration from Elizabethan to regency times.
The larger room was the main nursery for the five daughters of Charles, ninth Viscount Irwin in the late 18th
century. It is listed as the Nursery in the inventory of 1808 but there are no apparent signs of furniture or
toys probably because the last children at Temple Newsam had been the five sisters some thirty years before.
