The Blue Striped Room
The Blue Striped Room and Blue Striped Dressing Room with their dark room behind all made up a single
lodging. The present room was made smaller still by the insertion of James Wyatt's 1770s staircase nearby.
Wyatt was probably responsible for many of the decorative details in the room including the doorcases, fireplace
and bed alcove. The room has been hung with a facsimile of the wallpaper installed by Mrs Meynell Ingram in
1886 featuring a jasmine spray design by G F Bodley. Traces of earlier wall coverings used in these rooms in
the 1770s, 1829 and 1865 have also been found.
