House Tour
The Boudoir

The Boudoir beyond must in the 18th century have served as a bedchamber and dressing room combined. Its plasterwork was executed by Luke Green in 1760, but the yellow silk has been woven to reproduce the wall-covering hung here around 1900, when Mrs Meynell Ingram used the room as an informal sitting room. Portraits of her and her husband by Sir Francis Grant now flank the fireplace, and there are portraits of Admiral Meynell whose room this was in the mid 19th century.
