House Tour
The Crimson Dressing Room

In the late 19th century, this room served as the Dressing Room to the adjoining Crimson Bedroom used by Mrs Meynell Ingram and was occupied by her companion, or reader, who slept in a bed which folded up into a cupboard.

The walls are now hung with 'cabinet' pictures recalling the 17th and 18th centuries' custom of grouping together exquisitely wrought small-scale paintings in more private rooms for the pleasure and admiration of their owners.
