The Little Gallery was embellished in 1889-91 as part of the wider scheme of alterations carried out for Mrs Meynell Ingram by the architect C E Kempe. Improvements included the plaster frieze and wallpaper in a design called 'Malmesbury' which has now been reprinted using the original blocks.
