Book Room

The 1808 Temple Newsam inventory records this room as 'Miss Gordon's Ground Floor' with furnishings that included a mahogany table with folding top, 3 walnut backstools and calico cases, a mahogany card table, a small mahogany piano forte by Shudi and a music desk. It later functioned as an informal dining room before being used as a Book Room by Mrs Meynell Ingram in the late 19th century. The Book Room is now used together with the Serving Room for small exhibitions and other visitor services.
