Gentlemen's Passage
The so-called Gentlemen's Passage belongs to the late 18th-century improvements carried out by Frances, Lady
Irwin. The imitation painted stonework continues the decorative scheme introduced in the Great Hall in 1827
by Lady Hertford. Leading off from the passage is a small stone servants' staircase that stretches from the
cellars to the first floor. The passage is used to display a collection of the Ingram hatchments.
