The magnificent collection of silver at Temple Newsam consists of 200 objects dating between Elizabethan and
modern times acquired by purchase, gift or bequest over a period of 40 years. Highlights include the Mostyn and
Thirkleby Flagons (1601 and 1646), the Castle Howard Ewers (1697), the Kirkleatham Centrepiece (1731) and the de
Lamerie Tea Equipage (1735). In addition, there is an array of different types of domestic objects that illustrate
not only the development of historical styles, but also the different uses to which silver has been put over the
centuries.
A fully illustrated catalogue of the British Silver collection at Temple Newsam House and Lotherton Hall is available. Link to Publications
