Middle White
A Yorkshire pig developed by Joseph Tuley, a Keighley weaver, by crossing Large White sows with the now extinct
Small Yorkshire boars. A popular breed that has been widely exported, but it also acquired fame as the London
Porker and suckling pig by the 1930s.
They are both hardy and docile, but also make good consistent breeders. Primarily it is an early maturing pork
pig but it is also used for crossing with other breeds to produce both pork and bacon.
The smallest of the British pigs, middle whites have a thick white coat, upright ears and a dished face with
a snubbed nose.
