Gloucester Old Spot
More affectionately known as the Orchard Pig, this pig originates from the Vale of Berkeley,
near Gloucester, where it thrived on whey and windfalls.
It is a hardy, prolific breed with good grazing abilities and can be reared to produce both bacon and pork. The
sows tend to be long-lived, docile mothers.
A large lop-eared pig, whose coat is predominantly white with at least one black spot.
This breed is currently not kept at Temple Newsam.
