Travelling Rack Saw Bench

Back in the early 1900s the old wooden saw bench was powered by electricity generated by the tramways, but cutting was interrupted if a tram was on its way up the hill to Temple Newsam. Today its replacement is powered by a 3-phase electric motor, although the bench is still hand operated. The circular blade has inserted teeth and is 54 inches in diameter.
