Blacksmiths
The blacksmith would have carried out work for the whole estate, making and repairing tools and equipment.
He would also have shod all the riding, carriage and working horses. On a good day he may well have shod the
horses outside, where he would also store equipment awaiting repair or collection.
The Original forge, of brick construction, is still in full working order and operated with the aid of
a hand-cranked circular bellows.
