The Poultry House (Old Drying Shed)
Originally the drying shed for timber cut on the estate and sawn next door in the Sawmill. The green, or freshly
cut, timber was left in here to dry out or 'season'. The timber would be cut into planks and stacked with spacers
to allow air to circulate.
It is now home to a selection of the many rare breeds of poultry kept at Home Farm, many of which are prize winners.
Also on display are small pieces of general equipment, such as the graip, for mucking out, and the pitch fork,
a very useful item for moving loose straw or hay.
