Volunteer support

How do I volunteer in sport?

If you want to get involved in volunteering, Leeds City Council Sport Service may be able to help individuals find a suitable opportunity close to where you live. To register your interest, simply download the volunteer registration form below, complete all sections and submit. The information you provide will tell us what skills and experience you have and what type of volunteer work you are interested in doing.

Attributes that organisations often look for in volunteers are good organisational and communication skills, people who are enthusiastic, highly motivated and who are willing to learn and develop new skills.

Depending on the type of work you are wanting to do and the age groups you are looking to work with, you may be required to be checked by the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) and provide two references, before you can take on a volunteer role.

You can also sign up to become a Sportsmaker with West Yorkshire Sport.  See the link for more information about the Sportsmakers Programme

To be a sportsmaker you need to be

  • 16 or over
  • New to sports volunteering
  • Able to do a minimum of 10 hours volunteering

Finally...

Volunteering is a great way of gaining new skills, qualifications, training and experience, making new friends, having fun and doing something you enjoy and making a difference by putting something back in to your local community.
